An international holiday apparel company wants to create a fresh design for a new holiday outfit line, but not increase cost.
Our network of designers from the United States and China are working together on a solution. The American designers are brainstorming and concepting a first-stage design, and Chinese designers are working on a detailed design. The result will meet the client’s needs by providing a high-quality design with an optimal cost structure. Because the final design was completed in China, the collaboration and transitioning to a Chinese-based manufacturer will be seamless.
An Atlanta-based natural skincare company was facing declining sales in the United States and had to explore the possibility of expanding into international markets. The company wanted to assess the viability of investing in a China market entry. The company has no previous international experience and has never sold its products globally.
Because this small business owner had a limited budget, we completed a China market analysis mostly with secondary data. With minimal cost, the company now has an overall understanding of market’s size, major competitors, opportunities and challenges. We also provided high-level entry recommendations that include target customers, possible channels, and pricing position. We also used several telephone interviews to illustrate typical customers. After a thorough review of the market situation, the company decided to pursue opportunities in another country. GWT’s work helped this company avoid a very costly expenditure.
A U.S. technology company considering a China market entry is uncertain how to structure its operation. Faced with so much available office space — but also plenty of foreign investment risk — the company wants some clarity and rationale for its office location.
We consulted with the company about possible entry modes and compared pros and cons of each option from a strategic and financial standpoint. GWT also evaluated different industrial parks. We provided the company with possible locations, rental cost, level of government support and incentives as well as future developments and potential selling market. The project is still ongoing. Our partners in China are preparing an onsite visit to verify some information. We have looked into almost 10 different parks so far for our client.
An American client with a U.S. patent wants to find funding and a JV partner to test and develop a unique product using its patented technology. The client is targeting private Chinese investors who have manufacturing and networking capabilities.
We are writing a compelling executive summary business case in Chinese for the client. GWT is crafting this message for a group of Chinese investors that acknowledges and addresses their motivation for making an investment. We are providing business expertise to help the client outline ROI for the investment group. It is also important we help our client understand why this particular group of Chinese investors is different from Western VCs or angles.
A newly IPOed Chinese medical company seeking American companies that want to distribute their products in China approached us to do some groundwork.
We are in the process of doing the dual diligence to verify the capability of this company as well as its financial and strategic condition. Our partner accounting and legal experts in China are working on the project.
